Credit Recovery

Districts can utilize a number of web-based software applications to supplement and expand their curriculum offerings through NERIC’s Online Learning service. Credit Recovery, through this service, subscribers can purchase licensing or system access to a series of different courseware applications , depending on individual program needs. NERIC staff also assist schools in meeting these program needs through local program development and ongoing support of the courseware applications available through the Online Learning Service.

NovaNET (Service Code 512.055.030) is a comprehensive, online courseware system that meets academic intervention needs. This web based system delivers research and standards-based, interactive curriculum, integrated assessment and student manage¬ment. Assessments within the system customize curricula based on individual student needs across middle school, high school and adult learning communities.

PLATO Learning (Service Code 512.055.070) is a research-based curriculum in¬tervention solution available as a Web product. The assessment tools allow identification of skill deficiencies to create individualized education plans addressing academic gaps. The K-12 curriculum areas addressed include: reading, writing, math, science, social studies, life skills, workplace skills, ESOL/ESL and test preparation. In addition, PLATO Learning offers a series of exam intervention modules aligned to the NYS Regents, SAT, ACT and the GED.

AccelerateU (Service Code 512.055.xxx) offers access to courses otherwise not available, in alternative schedules, or for credit recovery and student retention. Content is aligned to New York State standards and taught by certified NY teachers.

Apex Learning (Service Code 512.055.xxx) provides educational alternatives for students through online learning. Apex Learning supports varying levels of student readiness through digital curriculum along multiple course pathways, including core competency, honors, Advanced Placement and exam prep courses.

Florida Virtual School (Service Code 512.055.xxx)offers more than 90 courses including core subjects, world languages, electives, honors, and Advanced Placement courses. FLVS provides a variety of K-12 custom solutions for schools and districts to meet student needs. Courses are taught by highly qualified, certified instructors who interact regularly through email, voice mail, telephone conversations, and instant messenger with enrolled students.
